- Where To Start
Organising a team tour for your club or school is a difficult and challenging task. But it is also be rewarding and the benefits of a tour can last for countless seasons. This may be the first time you have ever organised taking a large group on a rugby tour and it may seem daunting; we’re here to help you along the way and help you organise a tour that will benefit your team and always fondly be remembered.
Step 1: Set Clear Goals & Objectives
Going on tour is well and good, but every tour needs a purpose. What do you want to get out of it? By setting clear goals and objectives it ensures that when you come to us, we can best design a tour that will help fulfil those goals and have an excellent tour for your team. Also when you return from your team tour, you can easily measure the success of the tour by these goals and objectives.
- Suggested Goals
- Experience a Festival of Rugby
- Senior/Junior Cup Team (SCT/JCT) Training Camp
- Fun & Adventure
- Train & Play Rugby
- Team Bonding
- Rugby Development
Step 2: Pick a Destination
From creating your goals and objectives, the destination choices for your tour will filter to ones that will allow you to meet these goals. You can research different destinations and find facilities that will accommodate your group in locations across Europe and beyond; or you can get in touch with us here at Rugby Travel Ireland. We have relationships with various rugby teams, schools and resorts around the world that have accommodated teams that we have toured with.
- Featured Destinations
- Warm Weather Training in Spain
- International Rugby Festival in Portugal
- Professional Experience in France
- Team Bonding in South Africa
- Weekend Trips to England or Wales
Step 3: Contact Your RTI Adviser
Keeping on top of hotel options, flight prices, transfer quotes, trying to get a fixture and more for your tour is difficult and demanding. Prices change, group numbers go up and down and teams can’t always commit because you don’t have your dates confirmed. Frustrating… we know. We’ve worked with many clubs and they’ve all struggled with the task because they are entering the unknown. We do this day in, day out and take teams on tours that suit their goals and their budget. We do the hard work of getting you the best tour and work closely with you to advise you on the right location, facilities, fixtures and excursions to maximise your time on tour. Rugby Travel Ireland is a member of the Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAR) which also means your monies are safe and protected when booking through us. To find out more about getting permission to tour from your home union, travel insurance and more, we are just a phone call away and are happy to help.
Step 4: Form a Committee
Forming a tour committee who will work together and help coordinate with your RTI Adviser is the key to a successful tour. One point of contact for us and you means that there is no miscommunication. Being able to share the weight of the load when organising your tour is necessary as then each person can focus on their role fully and not juggle between different tasks.
