Gold Coast

A glittering jewel on Australia's eastern coastline.

The Gold Coast, a glittering jewel on Australia’s eastern coastline, is a paradise for sun-seekers, thrill-seekers, and nature lovers alike. With its iconic skyline, pristine beaches, and vibrant atmosphere, this coastal city offers a wealth of experiences that enchant visitors from around the world. At the heart of the Gold Coast lies its legendary beaches, where golden sands stretch as far as the eye can see and the turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean beckon. Whether you’re catching a wave at Surfers Paradise, unwinding in the laid-back vibes of Burleigh Heads, or exploring the hidden coves of Coolangatta, there’s a beach for every mood and moment.

But the Gold Coast is more than just sun and surf – it’s also a playground for adrenaline junkies and adventure enthusiasts. From the dizzying heights of the SkyPoint Observation Deck to the heart-pounding thrills of the world-renowned theme parks, including Dreamworld and Warner Bros. Movie World, there’s no shortage of excitement to be had. For those craving a taste of nature, the Gold Coast hinterland offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. With its lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and breathtaking vistas, places like Lamington National Park and Springbrook National Park provide endless opportunities for bushwalking, birdwatching, and wildlife encounters.

And when it comes to dining and entertainment, the Gold Coast delivers in spades. From chic waterfront restaurants and bustling cafes to lively nightclubs and rooftop bars, the city’s culinary and nightlife scene is as diverse as it is vibrant, offering something to satisfy every craving and mood.

Surfers Paradise

Australia’s famous Surfers Paradise Beach lies at the heart of Queensland’s Gold Coast. Swim and surf along the expansive beaches with this two kilometer stretch of golden sand and rolling surf patrolled by three lifeguard towers, all keeping watch over designated swimming and surfing areas.

The beach itself is backed by a fenced fore-dune with plenty of signed access tracks from the esplanade to the sand and lined in seating areas and barbecues with ocean views for those wanting to just take it all in. The adjacent foreshore precinct is a hive of energy and home to towering beachside accommodation, alfresco dining and night markets.

Burleigh Head National Park

Ancient volcanic columns meet the sea on this easy stroll in Burleigh Head National Park in the heart of the Gold Coast.

The Oceanview track skirts the coastline leading around the rocky headland from the southern edge of Burleigh Heads township to the southern [park entrance near Tallebudgera Creek.

Pack a picnic and relax by the creek at Echo Beach and marvel at the tumbled masses of six sided basalt columns. Spot whales (during winter and spring), white-bellied sea-eagles and birdwing butterflies (in summer).
